The 11th Trilateral User Meeting and Trilateral Offices and Users Working Level Meeting

On June 17, the 11th Trilateral Users Meeting was held at JIPA Tokyo office involve the participation of AIPLA, IPO, BusinessEurope, and JIPA. The meeting is first put forward by JIPA in 2003. Since thenˇˇwe have had the meeting twice a year with rotate the chair among these four parties. The Current economic crisis made foreign attendees fewer, so we had to try having telephone conference.

The meeting sought measures which moves toward achieve harmonization among systems of each country, summarized the views on Common Citation Document, and submitted the meeting's opinion to trilateral offices. Another, they discussed PCT reform, Patent Prosecution Highway, Patent Quality, and the cooperation among JIPA, IPO, AIPLA, BusinessEurope, Chinese IP NGO, and Korean IP NGO, namely IP5 concept.

On the nest day, June 18, the Trilateral Offices and Users Working Level Meeting was held at Japan Patent Office. The agendas such as, Common Search Report Forms for Trilateral Offices, Substantive Issues on Common Application Format, PCT Reform, Current situation of PPH,?and Update of quality initiatives in Trilateral Offices were discussed to achieve better IP system.

The next meeting is scheduled on November 11 in Tokyo.
