Opinion Exchange with Director General of Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO)
On February 28, 2012, Mr. Osonoe, Managing Director of JIPA and members of JIPA strategy to Asian countries had a meeting with Ms. Wang of TIPO Director General, equivalent to JPO Commissioner and Ms. Lee, Director of TIPO Trademark Div. at the office of Interchange Association, Japan.
They came to Japan to deriver presentations on “An Introduction to the Amendment to Taiwan’s Patent Act and Trademark Act” and “Supporting Measures of Taiwan’s Newly-Amended Trademark Act,” at IP seminars in Tokyo and Osaka.
This meeting was realized at Ms. Wang’s earnest request to hear opinions to the new laws from Japanese companies.
Mr.Osonoe expressed our thanks to reflect JIPA’s demand to the new laws and their effort to develop friendly relationship between JIPA and TIPO. Then in turn, Director showed appreciation that JIPA’s comments on the new laws was one of best source to draft and discuss the newly amended laws.
Director gave convincing answers to each question about enforcement regulations and examination standard which are now working toward revising. Meanwhile Ms. Wang asked about applicants’ response to subordinate regulations which prescribe the use of foreign language application receiving system. That is one of the main revised points of the patent law. Her detailed understanding of revised patent law enabled us to have a fruitful opinion exchange.
JIPA would like to continuously forester such trusting relationship.
