Commemorative Symposium of the 30th Anniversary of Trilateral Patent Office Cooperation
On November 15, 2012, a commemorative symposium celebrating the 30th anniversary
of cooperation among patent offices in Japan, US and Europe (JPO, USPTO,
and EPO) was held at Hotel Okura in Kyoto. At this symposium, a panel of
representative IPR users from these three countries, including President
Okumura of JIPA, attended its 2nd session: “Review & Vision of the
Trilateral Meeting.” The panel expressed their appreciation to patent offices
in the US, Europe and Japan for their past cooperative activities, especially
for the standardization of the patent specification format, and also requested
further harmonization of patent systems and examination rules among the
three patent offices.
