As the first item on the agenda of the meeting, commissioners reported the recent activities of their respective IP offices. After their reports, the representatives from industrial users expressed their opinions and requests for a project being planned by IP5, received comments from the IP5 commissioners and discussed the project with the commissioners.
The meeting featured vigorous discussions on a wide range of topics, including the Global Dossier, harmonization of patent systems, the future direction of PPH, electronic transfer of patent processes to national phase in the PCT, a patent information policy, patent classification, and machine translation. The JIPA representatives requested promotion of the Global Dossier and further acceleration of the harmonization of the patent systems.

The 3rd joint meeting will be held in Pusan, Korea in June 2014.
