JIPA member gave lecture at a WIPO workshop on Measures for Accession to, and Effective Use of, the Madrid System
A WIPO workshop on Measures for Accession to, and Effective Use of, the Madrid System was held on March 8- 9, 2012 in Tokyo, Japan, in cooperation with the Japan Patent Office (JPO). Mr. Matsudaira of JIPA Trademark Committee gave a lecture titled “Effective Use of, the Madrid System; Case Studies”
The workshop aimed at increasing awareness and practical knowledge of the system through lectures with WIPO and lecturers’ experiences and providing an opportunity to share problems to affiliate the system among participants. JIPA has cooperated with this program from the past hoping this program lead to promote accession to Madrid System.
Mr.Matsudaira illustrated with HONDA Motor’s experiences to provide participants with an opportunity to learn about the procedural aspects of the Madrid System, the requirements of accession, the tasks involved in administration of the Madrid System, and to promote an understanding of the benefits of accession.
Twenty-five senior government officials and IP community participants from fifteen countries that are not members of the Madrid System in the African, Asian, and Pacific regions attended this seminar. On these occasions, we, the Madrid System users should support their accession.
