Workshop with LexOrbis Intellectual Property Practice

On November 26, IP Workshop was held by Mr. Manoj Pillai and Mr. Abhai Pandey of LexOrbis Intellectual Property Practice form India at JIPA Tokyo office. 15 members from JIPA the 3rd International Affairs Committee, License Committee, and the last year’s JIPA delegation to India attended the meeting. The Law Firm has cooperated with many JIPA activities. For example, they gave us a lecture on Indian IP situation, giving some pieces of advice to JIPA commmittees, and supporting JIPA delegation in their country. The latest indian IP news which they give us every year since 2007 has helped our IP study very much.


Mr. Manoj Pillai and Mr. Abhai Pandey made presentations on below themes;

1. Latest development on patent prosecution in India
2. Patent enforcement in India
3. Trademark prosecution and enforcement in India
4. Design prosecution and enforcement in India

After the presentations, JIPA member asked them about procedure and penalty for Indian working statement and Duty of Disclosure for foreign application. On the issues of Trademark, JIPA member questioned on trademark infringement, the extent of injunction, and effects of passing off action and so on. Messrs. Manoj and Abhai had commentate on each questions and promised that they send some references about the issues after they go back to their country.
