1.About the Mini Seminar
Since July 2020, JIPA has offered video lectures by overseas associate members. In response to requests for more in-person opportunities, JIPA began holding this mini seminar in a hybrid format last year. This seminar provides a valuable opportunity to share the latest IP developments from various jurisdictions with JIPA members in a live setting. Seminar topics have been selected with the cooperation of JIPA committee members, reflecting areas of strong interest to Japanese companies and IP practitioners.
The seminar will be held in a hybrid format, so participants may join either on site at JIPA Tokyo or online via Teams. For those attending in person, the coffee break will offer a relaxed opportunity to exchange views with JIPA members, speakers, and other overseas associate members. We hope this will also serve as a friendly networking opportunity beyond the presentations themselves. We warmly welcome your participation.

The first seminar will feature presentations by overseas associate members from India, Saudi Arabia, China, and Korea. The program will cover a wide range of practical IP topics, including support for overseas business expansion, IP and patent practice in Saudi Arabia, trade secret infringement cases in China, recent trends in trademark infringement litigation, AI patent examination, key considerations for patent specifications, correction requirements, and developments relating to the introduction of a discovery system in Korea. Through these sessions, participants will have the opportunity not only to hear the latest updates from each jurisdiction, but also to connect with JIPA members and fellow overseas associate members in a welcoming setting.
